iPOD question - windows ME??

so i bought wifey an iPOD for xmas, she recenlty hooked it up and apparently it won't work on our computer since we have windows ME (millennium edition) and apparenlty need windows xp. does this sound right? is there any way to get an ipod to work with windows ME or are we S.O.L. and need to return the ipod?

i don't want to buy a brand new windows version or computer because of the ipod....btw, the ipod is the one that's currently ±$200 (if that makes a difference).

One of the best things I ever did was to trash my ME and upgrade to XP...you will soon learn that alot of the programs comming out now will not work for you..I have an Ipod and it's pretty neat...so think abt the pooter upgrade and if your old pooter system has the external speakers, SAVE EM! I saved mine and use them on my Ipod for stereo, without the head sets!

AFAIK, Iutnes is not available for Windows ME. There are other programs that you can use.

is it easy to upgrade windows (i.e. is the software cheap) or is it like a few hundred bones for new windows....if so, might as well get a new computer
