graemlins/crybaby_sign.gif Part of owning a jeep..maybe watch the weather report the night before and take the "other" car??? I have been caught out in the rain before in mine and know where every car wash in town is located..one in particular is next to a BBQ restuarant, a good place to wait ot the rain.

:D I know Im being a whiner.....
The weather was supposed to be to 104 and sunny all last week. Usually its drought cond. around here by now.
Unfortunately there is no other car.
I know where all the bridges and gas stations are and have had to go on the grass and medians around traffic to hop from bridge to bridge on Hwys, but good idea about the BBQ.
Im determined to keep it off til end of summer.

its a jeep... if u wanted a quickly put up top or gas millage you should of bought a convertible graemlins/crybaby_sign.gif
put some bed liner on the floor and a trash bag over your seat.... it will be fine...
- when u drive on the highway during a thunderstorm topless...then you wonder why jeep did not put windshield wipers on the INSIDE of the windshield, not -why didn't i put the top up..(or at least i do, but i have issues/or so i am told)

At least you have your top off..I have not yet taken mine off for the summer..infact, I havent even fired the jeep up in abt 2 months! But living near a college town with lots of pretty coeds, the jeep girl thread has inspired me to go topless this next week and seek out some pretty models to post here on the bbs..hopefully the wx will cooperate.

It can be a PIA,but, the looks you get from other people , as you drive around in a monsoonal downpour, are priceless.
The faster you go,the more rain whips in from behind.
Someone needs to figure out how to mount a second set of wipers on the INSIDE!

I have the windows out. Once and a while, I will put the top down. But when I am at work, I keep the top and the door windows up and the back seat folded over.

i have my top off for the summer.... but i have a bestop bikini for it and it works well.... the only thing is that the rain pours in around the sides of it between the doors and the top...
but when you are going down the road everything dries out... it was a downpour the other day and i was flyin down the freeway, my backseat was bone dry by the time i got to where i was goin....

A hat and a rain coat.
As far as an inside wiper, I got a really good squegee to keep in the Jeep for just that reason.

You see my 87 I had I hardly ever had the hard top on and didnt care about the elements but now its different.
I need to invest in a soft top for Summers (but they are so darned $$$$), but the Hard Top is a must for Winter, for me anyway plus IMO hard tops just look better and are more secure.

I carry a rain suit in my motorcycle or you could put a bikini top on it. I don't even look at the weather. If it's dry when I leave the house, I'm on the bike. I get wet going home alot.

Okay I just put on my windjammer I ordered and deck cover. I think along with the Bikini Top only a monsoon can ruin anything now (these will come back off once rain goes away).

Maybe it's designed a lil different on a YJ. I have that combo and, don't get me wrong- it works GREAT, but there are some small open areas that will definitely get hit up when stopped in the rain. On the road, moving- no problem

I thought that looking like a drowned rat was part of the Jeep experience.
Like Mud said: I liked the looks I got when I would run down the road soaked to the bone.
Yank out the carpet, pull the drain plugs, put down some sort of bed liner (like Herculiner) if you want to (just don't get any on your Hootus :D ).

just buy a safari top, costs $50, you can take it off and roll it up and make it disappear when you don't want it, and you can put it on super fast by yourself. 2 peice soft doors help also, just keep them in the bed and you can throw them on too, instant protection from teh elements.
sometimes i like getting rained on when it's 105 degrees out here. i also thought about windshield wipers on the inside, i hated being on the thruway in that storm a couple years ago. of course i was also in a storm where i had a full hard top and doors on, but my driver side wiper flew off my jeep and i had to stick my head out the window the whole way home, that was crappy.
herculiner makes everything nicer. and get sunglasses for the rain, when youa re driving fast in the rain, raindrops hit you like bullets,
so atleast protect your eyes..
i file dmy jeep with water once to drive it around in the summer time, it was cool. portable pool

I've been toying with the idea of trying to see if I could mount an extra windsheild wiper inside to keep the rain off the windsheild from the back draft. I love getting caught in the rain. At least I get to make someone else's day.

Well boys and girls...as I posted, I finally got the top of the jeep, abt 60 days late mind you..got the jeep all cleaned up and LQQK'n really good..well today I was out and it came a flood! I really didnt care, I kinda knew I had a good chance to get wet..well I park the jeep, take a walk downtown, have a seat on a bench in the park and watch all the people..then it pisses down rain..no problem, any water will drain out, the seat will be just a little wet..well I get back to the jeep and boy howdy, the tub is filled with water..mind you now, I still have carpet in the jeep and it needed a good rain..and under that carpet are my DRAIN PLUGS! Damn..so what, I suffer from CRS!..the pulgs are out now and if we dont get anymore rain, everything should air dry in a week or two!
Carry a rolled up Bikini Top under your seat.
TJgirl
06-24-2007, 05:09 AM
you should just run a island topper, windjammer and duster deck cover, it looks great and keeps most of the weather out and with your door uppers off you still get the open air ride... or at least a bikini top.
