Increased Towing for 4dr Unlimited?

How complicated (ie. expensive) is it to change the rear axle ratio from the X Model stock 3.21 to the 4.10 ratio that is recomended for towing more then 1,000 lbs? Or are there other modifications that can be done to gain a few more pounds?

gearing would be your friend.

as for how hard...
i always recommend that if you have to ask about how hard it is to set up an axle, get a professional. it requires special tools.

it's best if you can order it the way you want.
I have a Rubi 4.10 gears.. and with the 32" tires... its a slug with a trailer behind it.

Thanks for the response, and yes I agree I would never attempt something major like this on my own. Your response sounds like I would need to replace the entire axle, and not just the gears within?

Not the whole axle, just the gears. I believe all of the Unlimited come with D44 in the rear. I have 4:10s also, with 33 inchers, and an auto tranny. I would definetly leave to a pro to install.
