View Full Version : Leaking JK
Hi everyone , this is my first time on the board. I bought my first Jeep this summer and I love it but I have one problem. Is anyone else with an 07 JK soft top having a problem with leaking over the doors. My next move is a meeting with the factory rep. Has anyone had this problem and got it fixed yet? Thanks for the help.

welcome to the forum.
is your leak coming from around the top when its up? There have heard very little about the soft top leaking. The hard top and some issues at first, but most of it was sorted out by about january.
Yes its coming from over the doors and dripping down on the door handles inside when the top is up. I have heard of a few others but have not talked to any other owners yet.

there oughtta be a way to tweak the door surround to stop that.... or..
you got half doors or full doors?
if you have half doors, the old methond was to push the top half of the door IN a little. makes a tighter seal. I had to do that on a Supertop I installed on a CJ5 many moons ago...
Full doors, It has been brought up to somehow tweak the the doors but we hav'nt got there yet.

This is a problem...both my (half doors) and my brothers (full doors) both have this problem...It comes from the channel that runs along the front of the front window...I am not sure what to do with it yet...but I will figure it out...I will let you know when I figure it out...

Bob just to pass on some info..
the three tabs that are at the top of the windshield frame... I bent mine down a little to make the front panels of my hardtop fit a little tighter.
the sheetmetal is kinda thin, so be careful. I used a pair of pliers. stuck the padded handle(s) in and used them to bend them down a little. worked for me... may work for you.
I had my 07 worked on 4 times before they got it. The factory called in a specialist that deals in nothing but leaks. It is the front seal along the windshield. Dealers may try but it seems like you really need someone that knows what they are doing.

Na, i just playing. But seriously b1pig, has come up with rigs to fix other things in his own JK. Just go to his Jk website and you see he know something about what he talks about.
Me, on the other hand, don't know anything!
I discount no ones advice. This is my first jeep and I'm just learning the ropes.

Also just ask questions and believe me someone is going to at the least put their two cents in!

One more thing, most of you who have had trouble with leaks have the hard top with the freedom panels. Mine is a soft top and the problem is the header strip. This I know. There was a TSP or whatever you call it put out by the factory.

mine leaks over the door also. just popped on here to see if anyone else was having this problem. the moisture inside also makes the windows fog. it really jerks my chain when it rains.

Where is the water puddling? I have a JK with soft top and full doors. The passenger floor will be quite wet after a rain. Also the molding near the right side of the windshield will get damp during a storm.
The ploblem your describing sounds like what I went through. Mine was leaking in the header strip and running around and driping on the inside door handles. When talking to the guy that fixed mine he asked if I was getting water down the windsheild frame and on to the floor , I had'nt had that problem but he put a fix on that to. Keep on your dealer to bring in a leak expert like they did for me. I have no more leaks.
