OK, total newbie question here. . . . . I left my softtop down on my 2 month old 4-door Unlimited in a bizzare thunderstorm. (I live outside of Charlotte NC, that has been in a severe drout for 4 months and there was not a cloud in the sky). By the time I made it to the jeep and jerked the soft top back into place I would guess it had been open in the rain for 5 minutes. So HOW WATER PROOF IS A JEEP? I know about the drain plugs in the floor boards, and fortunatly there was no standing water on the floor. So I guess I am more worried about the dash, electronics, CD player etc. Any advice on what I could have potentially damaged? I am not the brightest and will no doubt do this again!

Dont know much about the JK's, but they should be just as tuff as any other. Just next sunny day you get, open the top back and let it bake out a bit. It might smell (mine did anyway) from the carpet souring. It shouldnt hurt anything though. maybe one of the JK guys can clear it up for ya.

i bought some marine grade 3M mildew inhibitor and sprayed the seats and carpet and it helped get rid of the smell from anything that may have been growing in the carpet/seats

i think that the JK should be ok... the stereos they are using now go into the JK and the Sebring convertible, so (unless i am mistaken) i am pretty sure i recall seeing that the radios were made with a coated circuit board. not as well as a marine radio... but sufficiently according to the source at the time.

you should be ok. we've all done that kind of thing. smile.gif
