So ya im a new member and a owner of a Brand new 2008 JK Xs now that im in a got a few questions because in all honesty i dont know anything
at least i am not in denial
So basically this is it, any one got advise on anything im willing to take it. I have looked at the Faq 6.2 thread by Ohio before i was registered, but that has info mostly for pre JK's, probably because Jk's are brand new and DO NOT fault Ohio for this. That thread is more helpful than anything else right now.
So help, and if you do THANX
and p.s. Im not a girl ( aka i am a guy) as the S/n might suggest, but it has a story. but if you want to know why i have this s/n private message me its, not appropriate for this thread because it has nothing to do with this topic

well for starters i wanna make my JK mine (mods) but honestly i have little money ( all going to pay off JK and college)
any advise like today i was shifting ( i have a Manual) and it was catching a little (aka the stick when shifting wasn't transitioning smoothly) i may have not noticed it before and could just be the shift but Im paranoid about doing damage to my new jeep (my first manual and all)
and any general advise to a person whos new to a jeep

What kind of mods exactly do you want to do?

anything that doesn't void the warrenty, wont screw with my mileage (its a daily used) and some cosmetic like im gonna buy that grenade shift nob. I have a small income devoted to mods because of the payments
but its like what do i do first?

mods are meant to style a rig the way you want.
what do you want? performance? lift options?

Mostly cosmetic, but anything that i can do with a tight budget and not void the warranty
But mostly cosmetic

First thing I went with was the bumpers and lights. A nice bumper with a set or 2 of KC lights can REALLY change the look of a Jeep. photo op!

cosmetic stuff usually will not void your warranty. a quick way to cure that concern is to gather some plans for mods and then talk to the head mechanic at your dealership. they can usually tell you if it will or will not be against your warranty.
here are some things i have planned for my Rubicon in no particular order:
-front bumper (keeping factory fogs)
-winch
-lights mounts at base of winshield
-2" (or 2.5") budget boost
-wheel spacers
-stainless brake lines (must be DOT not to void warranty)
-HAM radio antenna (radio in... no ant.)
-5.5"-7" LCD monitor(s)
-exhaust mods
-Jet Chip
---------------------------------
further down the road:
4..56 gears
custom aluminum radiator (griffin)
So far, I have changed the stereo from a single disc to a 6-disc DVD radio, installed a CB and antenna, K&N intake and installed a Ham radio. I'm about to add a mod that will allow me to engage my lockers outside of low range and add some emergency lights. (fire fighter)

thanx
i went to my dealer today (fun little fact they deal directly w/ Q-tech) and had a talk with them
Not a big fan of tubular bumpers for the jk (except the boa rear end) But speed yours look sweet
ya Hella 500 fog lights( i have a Xs so i got no fog lights :( late availability my ***), lighting windshield mount , shifter nobs, the jeep search and rescue bag (first aid stuff like that. Im a Eagle scout and i saved one guys life already in the middle of the bridge, he failed to kill himself. Yea civilian first response team!) mirrior movers and tire covers look to be what im gonna change first (with in the next months), and in the next six (months) im looking at rock guards, more lights ( make rice burners think twice about messing with me! :D ) hi lift, entry guards, and beyond six months well it depends if my internship will pay good and hire me!
b1pig where did u get a Cb antenna mount( you make it)? Also i see no winch on your list any reason?

the CB antenna mount was made about 6 years ago to fit on my wife's Grand Voyager. All I did was use a peice of flat steel I got at Home Depot. I cut a section of it out about 4 inches wide by 6 or 7 inches long. On the van, it slipped under the left taillight.
for the JK, all I did was drill three holes in the spare tire mount on the tailgate on the left side on top of the flat area. pics should be on my page.. .. i think...
(btw: before that peice of metal was a cb antenna mount, it was used an an impromtu radar antenna mount in my Crown Vic. Genesis later copied it and it comes in their kits. )

I am also new to Jeeps. Had prev. experience with a 79 K5 Blazer. The only electronics on that was the lights. My question is on my JK I don't like the disfunctional bumper. What do I need to avoid when it comes to modifying it or replacing it as far as is related to airbag sensors.
