I pulled the Flowmaster 40 off of Lori's Tahoe a couple weeks ago. I had already tried a "cat head" dual outlet camaro muffler and did NOT like the sound. The Flowmaster was laying on the ground... and I thought "what the hell."

Soooo....
I made some mods and installed the Flowmaster on the JK. It sounds "ok"... but ... I miss the sound of the 4.0 on a Flowmaster. :(

I'll try and post up a sound file or something later.

I really like the sound of my 40 Series on my old CJ. maybe the 258/40 Series combo just resonates better?

it does. LOTS better.

the v-6 ... its kinda buzzy. borderline ricer sound. it sounds "ok"...

i think my problem is that i have this pre-conceived idea of what i want the exhaust note to be... and I have not found it yet. that is why i am hesitant to lay down any cash for an aftermarket system.

Seeing how it has such a short exit from the muffler it should sound better with a super turbo muffler like the dynomax. The super turbo has 3 routes the gasses have to take in the muffler and isn’t a straight through design which should give you more of the thud-thud-thud-thud-thud you are looking for with a short exit pipe. With the flowmaster 40 series, hooker aero-chamber, and other ultra flow mufflers the longer the pipe after the muffler the more drastic the exhaust separation sound is. You can also try a turndown on the end to reverberate the sound off the ground.

i like the straight-out tip with a slight cut to it. i do like a deep tone to the exhaust. that buzzy stuff aint for me. i wonder how much a set of headers will change it.... :D :D

i'd try a glasspack on it, they're cheap (20 bucks at pep boys)

if i had the money and the time, I'd love to try it... but my bank account is slimmer than some of those nasty models.

no, it doesnt. yes, I DID drive it without the muffler on it, and it sounds like a freakin log truck. it might sound slightly cooler with a manual tranny, but the auto.... no... sorry...
