I was just wondering if anyone has had any problem with the 2008 JK automatic Transmission. I purchased one in October and the transmission has just went out with 2600 miles...

welcome to the forum..

just curious. exactly "how" did it go out? did they say?

there were some recalls on the '07, but they were quickly resolved.

They have never said.. Took a day to get them to look at the transmission. They called Friday afternoon after I had left work to tell me.
As I was pulling up to a stop light or a stop sign. When I went ot go and take off it was like the transmission was in neutral. and after a few seconds the transmission engaged at about 1500-2000 RPM. This was as I was going back to work for lunch. I called the nearest dealer and told them of the problem and they said it was most likely a sensor. After work I was driving home (I live approximately 2 miles away) it started getting worse. The transmission was slipping if I let off of the gas and when I started from a take off the transmission would engage at around 4500-5000RPM. I decided to go ahead and take it to the dealer (another mile and a half).
I got there and told them that I was needing to get my Jeep looked at and they said that they could not look at it till Friday morning, and this was Wednesday afternoon. But what did I expect, not the dealer that I purchased it from. I called the dealer that I cought the Jeep from and told them of the problem and that the local dealer could not check the transmission until Friday morning. He said that they could look at it the next morning but I would have to call the Roadside towning and tell them that the local dealer could not look at it quick enough, but I would have to go to the dealer and get the jeep and leave that lot since the Roadside Assistance would not pick up a vehicle at a dealer or I would be charge for the tow.
I went to the dealer and told them that I was going to take my Jeep to the dealer that I bought the Jeep at. They then said that the mechanics got done with another vehicle earlier than they expected and would get to look at it first thing Thursday morning. I told them that if they were positive that they could look at it the next morning I would leave it there.
The next day they called me around noon and said that they checked the transmission oil and that it was burnt up, so the problem was in the transmission. I asked if they kenw what the problem was and they said that they haven't tore the transmission apart yet. I told them to keep me informed.
Late Friday night I called work and checked my vioce mail and there was a message for me to call the service department Monday morning about my Jeep. So hopefully I will know more then.

sounds like it was low on fluid, which may have caused this to happen

The dealers service department said that it was owner abuse. Said that the transmission fluid was burnt up due to high heat, and also that the clutches were fused together.
Abuse, What they always say. I told them they were crazy. It had only been off road one time.. Anyway I left the service department and went to the sales room and got a different Jeep instead.. But this one already has a 4" Lift and 33 12.50;s on it.
