I hope you guys remember a little while back we were all talking about the service bulletins on the trans for the 4 door JK. Yeah well I took mine in. the first time they said sure no problem, we dont have the parts yet just call us in a few days. I called for the next week and a half. finally my parts are in. I drop off my vehicle for a 1 day deal borrow a car from my mom to get to work no sweat right? wrong. i call em they tell me 1 more day. I say ok. no prob. next day they tell me ohh real sorry but a part didn't come in. I told them they were the ones who said they were there. they said sorry. I said OK. no problem. one more day & no Jeep. I got a loaner. for 7 days they had my Jeep. I get it back. its raining and a ton of road noise thought I heard something "fishy" sounding. figured I'll hear better in the morning. Oh yeah it was fishy all right. all sorts of noises that weren't there before. call them & they tell me I can have an appt in a week. I said OK no problem again. wait my week with this sound or sounds coming from my baby. take it in & they tell me nothings wrong. I said are you blankity blank kiddin me? then I talked to the "tech." who worked on my Jeep. OMG. I wouldn't let this guy change my oil what a mess. went for a test ride w him on the highway during rush hour and he tells me see no sound at all. I told him to keep it till the morning and drive it while its cold and quiet. it gets better. the next day finally I get a timid sort of yeah well we kinda hear something.once again I say " are you blankity blank kiddin me?" then the kicker is they tell me they called Jeep & they said its not a problem the new parts need a thousand mile break in period. To me that just doesn't sound proper. what do you guys think?

As long as they warranty the repair work, I'd wait out the 1000 miles and see if it goes away.
Before I had my clutch disc replaced at the dealer, I had gone to the Jeep website and found a section with a phone number to call with compaints; I got a reference number to keep to prove I had a problem with my JK in case I was not satisfied with the repair.
Everything went smooth with the repair but I no longer own the Jeep, so who knows if the clutch disc noise came back...

that sounds like a dealer issue. some have stellar sales departments and horrid service departments.... and some are the opposite. I'm fortunate to have a dealer with two good departments. (apparently, he's in good with Chrysler)
I would ask them why there is a 1,000 mile break in period. go take them for a ride in any rig on the lot. indicate that particular vehicle is under 1,000 miles and it isn't making all that noise. get another one. show that it isnt doing it either. they'll eventually get the point.
they will only do warranty work if Chrysler approves it. otherwise, they have to eat the bill.

I know they just seem to not get it for some reason.the srevice writers are good they really hustle but the techs. blech. I really believe it was their tech who screwed the job up. not too sure what it takes to replace a brg & a clutch plate not having done one myself but, I do work on forklifts for a living. So I doo have expeirience &I know that this sounds & feels like a completely different trans since I got it back. well we will see I take it back today again to have it looked at.
BTW whats the lemon law like? lol

thank you sir pig. well my Jeep is back in the shop again. I have been promised that this will be taken care of & I will get my Jeep back fixed perfectly. prolly only because I just hammered them on an online survey they sent me. lol

the surveys can end up getting you what you need... now... but sometimes they can damage the relationship you have with the dealership. rarely in cases such as yours where it is a serious quality issue with the work. after this one, you should have a followup call or survey to verify that the work was CORRECTLY performed and how the service visit worked out.
if they ended up performing an excellent service, you may call the service manager... and potentially the owner to tell them:
a) who screwed the pooch the first time
b) who fixed it right
c) anyone that was instrumental in convincing you to keep bringing your Jeep back.
Remember... if it is a warranty repair, you should be able to handle it at any dealer. you may remind them of that. ;)

I did do that in my survey. when they asked about comunication I gave em better than good marks. basically when it came to the service reps. I gave em all flying colors I even wrote in the comment section that they worked very hard to do their job & did what they could to help but I was not happy with the way my vehicle was handled. I also suggested they should have someone else with a little more knowledge of the new wrangler take a look at it & try to figure it out. the tech I spoke to thought it sounded just fine. Yeah for a 1992 maybe. this was less than a year old and super quiet. as you know you got one. I always give credit where credit is due.

update: after my last post I was supposed to get a phone call from from my service rep. waited a day he never called. they had my jeep for three more days picked it up on the third day and still never got a phone call from anyone regarding my problem I called them 3 times and left voicemail for my rep and he never called.
I called the factory customer service & they basically got him on the phone in a second & told me he will get back to me & solve my problem. here I sit. I got a claim # and no real help from jeep so I got to find another dealer that will help me.

Ouch! Sorry to hear of the mess you are going throu! I'm over here keepin my fingers crossed for ya... and the fact I have to take mine back in.
My hard top started leaking last week with all the foul winter weather I was caught driving in (MI, OH, PA, NY & CT). Before anyone asks, yes I tried reseating the top. Had to pull into a gas station's over hang due to the down poor... but I tried and the bf tried. Sadly no luck. I'm just keepin my fingers crossed this doesn't become an drag-out problem.

the problem I have now is finding another dealer. most other dealers a a lttle farther than this place n I dont want to drive up to one just to find out they suck too.lol luck of the draw I suppose.lol
Bluelights, I had a similar problem. I took it back in 3 times & all of a sudden it stopped me or jeep is not even sure why. mab just the constant seating & reseating that finally did it. but its worked out now. good luck to you too

here's an idea.
maybe give chrysler a call. aske them if they have any way for you to see a summary of the surveys on the dealerships in question and how they compare to each other.... might help you out with your delima.
another option.
call the service manager at one of the others. tell them that you have been getting the runaround at another dealership (dont give the name). explain what your needs are and that you love your vehicle, you just want it fixed properly and see what he/she says. often, if you read through the b.s. you can pretty well get an indication of what kind of ship they run.

It's only been reseated twice... so I may give it a few more goes before I take it in. Plus it takes one heck of a down-poor before it starts leaking. The blizards the midwest was hammered with the begining of Feb was what did it in. Nothing since I got back to Connecticut last week.

Clutch parts need to be broken in? What a load of crap. Call the Serivice manager and politely demand an appointmentwith him. Sit downand calmly review the entire step by experience you have had with his staff. Strongly suggest that you both drive a new JK with manual trans then come back and both jump right in yours and go for the same ride. Its all in how you habdle it. Kill them with kindness but be totally rigid on what needs to be done to correct the problem. Good Luck !!!!!!!
