Hey guys newbie here. i know this question has been on here before, but i cant find it. what tire size can u go up to without rubbing? and what width it will be going on a 16" stock jeep wheel.
Also what tires would ya suggest for a semi-off roader no rocks just mud and trails.

that honestly is a loaded question.

i think you can run a tire up to 33-34" diameter... 12.5" width. the catch is that you have to compensate for the offset of the factory wheels. a good option if you dont want to change wheels, are spacers. There are some decent low cost wheels that match or beat the cost of the spacers, though. I think the ideal size, meaning the tallest with minimak rubbing would be something in the 34-10.50 range... what many refer to as "pizza cutters". i have seen pics of 35s on a JK with no lift, but you have to add longer bunpstops to keep the tires out of the fenders.

the type of tire is a matter of opinion. If the mud you get into is minimal, then a god open tread all terrain tire would work fine. if you like to get into the type of stuff that sucks the shoes off your feet... you need a really aggressive tire. the handicap is that the limited tire size will limit your capabilities anyway. I must admit that the 32" BFG M/Ts on my Rubicon are very nice. they handle good and handle mud pretty good, too. i'd recommend them from my experience. if you look around, you can find used Rubicon rims and tires on other JK forums.
