Has anyone over here put multiple car seats in the back of their 4-Door JK? I'm trying to convince the wifey that this is our family car solution....
I don't want to go to the dealership and waste their time, I just wanted to know if anyone here has experience with this?
I have an 18 month old and a 3 week old. Its the rear-facing seat that I am most concerned about with the space.
Thanks!

right now, I have two full size car seats in there. still got room for my 12 yr old back there... plus, there is room in the argo area for groceries... or a double stroller. I have the Jeep double stroller in the back too. :D :D
Usually, I have the baby seats strapped in, toss the babies in, throw the diaper bag on the floor behind my seat and stick a cup in their hands with a spare for each in the cup holders behind the center console. Stroller usually stays at the house if I'm going to the store... i use their cart. if we're goin to the mall, I load the stroller. it lays cross-ways behind the back seat, and there's still a fair amount of room. if she needs more convincing, i can snap some pics with the stroller in the back. it's dirty, though. i dont think i've cleaned it in 2 or 3 months and the wife usually leaves her junk in there, too...
I'm telling you, the JK Unlimited kicks ass. four doors, 4wd, removable top, solid axles and you actually have room for crap after you fill the seats. I love it. No regrets.sent ya a PM....

Thanks! I replied to your PM before I saw your reply in this post.
How tall are you? Your Wife?
My wife is 5'4" - she's worried about getting the infant carrier into the center spot in the Jeep and the ease of getting our 18m toddler in.
Obviously- the grand plan would be to lift it- but that can come later when we don't have an infant carrier at least.

i figure if we're gonna have a double stroller, it might as well be my brand name of choice. ;) we already had one of the graco tandems... it didnt turn at all. went straight pretty good.
heres another.

this is shot from above the passenger seat. Lori is 5-08... and overweight. i'm 5-09, average build. Putting the babies in isnt so hard at stock height. if your rear facing seat has the cradle that straps in like ours does, it is super easy. you tie it down and throw the carrier in and latch it. no problems.
with a stock height JK, I think a shorter person would be able to put the center seat in. with your arrangement... two plus two... it may be easier to put one at each side - particularly when they are both in front facing seats. we have separated them when they get ticky and start fighting each other. we keep them to one like you see in the pics because usually if the babies go, the boys go too. that's 4 kids and one adult. the 12 yr old keeps them out of trouble.... and tries to keep them occupied.
I have sat back there with the babies myself. it isnt uncomfortable... but there isnt a lot of room left.

Thank you so much for your help and taking your time to get me these pictures.
You should have seen my wifes reaction of me searching out this car seat situation in my recommendation of a new vehicle. "You Jeep guys really band together..."
Hopefully... I know this will be a process.

i think the biggest decision maker will be actually getting in one with the family and seeing how it works for you.

I have a booster seat and the usual enormous baby seat and I have enough room for 1 adult to sit in the middle and plenty of room in the trunk for alot of stuff. I've fit 5-6 bags of suitcases and a stroller back there comfortably, also realize the Unlimited has larger trunk area than the Liberty and some other Jeeps. With my lift kit my wife has a little bit of a challenge (5ft -7in) throwing the kids up in their seats, if you have to consistently take the car seat in & out securing it w/the seat belt it can be a pain w/it lifted. But I love my Rubi and only have more plans for her, good luck on the purchase.

welcome to the forum.
yea, that is something that I failed to mention. if the child seats are on the outside, there is more room in the middle. its in the design of the seat... how there is more space to the doors.

I missed this post eariler. This is the kind of information that will help my persuit of a new JK. With our third child on the way, the back seat has to fit a childseat and two kids.
Thanks!
