I assume the TJ trick does not work on the JK? My TJ I can cycle the key on-off-on-off-on to get the codes. They will display on the digital odometer. I know for a fact that works on 97-03 TJ's.

I was having trouble with my MyGig in my 08 Unlimited and the dealer wasn't muchh help so I went to www.jeep.com (http://www.jeep.com) and clicked on "contact us". I called the number with my vin# and miles in hand and they put me on hold while they contacted the dealer. I had a call back from the service manager within a couple hours telling me to bring it in and he would have it taken care of. I dont think the dealerships like to be contacted by Chrysler but I sure got a quick response. You might want to try it if you still have problems. I'm waiting for oil change time to take mine in, so then I'll find out if it really gets fixed. But I sure liked the quick action taken.

I already tried that approach. the lady called my dealer, opened up a complaint file, yadda yadda.I was supposed to get a call back from my dealer and.... presto no call. waited for a bit and called another dealer. I went to the old dealer about 5 times for the same problem in the month of January they had my jeep longer than I did. well we will see what this new dealer has to say. I should be getting a call today or tommorow

well I got the story last week. my last post saidI was going to a new dealer. I did he had it far a whole week.. it runs great. they found a bad bearing. why was the bearing bad you ask? ahh because the fluid was low. why was the fluid low you ask? because they didnt put enough fluid in it to begin with. there was also a leak and several stripped bolts. the service writer actually apologized to me for the shoddy work the other dealer did.
they also replaced my air filter for free :D . well at least I know who to go to when I need something done to my jeep. those guys had to see what was wrong it was so obvious. Guess they were hoping I would just go away. well I did and I'm not going back for sales or anything else. I'm writing letters to the dealer with copies of what was done and sending them to the service dept. the manager needs to know what hes got working there. what do you guys think I should do?

I agree with you. Inform that dealership's Mgmt of the poor workmenship in the service department. But don't stop there, go up the chain, send similar letters with invoices to the REGIONAL Jeep and to the Corporate JEEP Headquarters.

Jeep should know that one of it's licensed dealerships is not providing QUALITY SERVICE and REPAIRS. Further, they should know that your loyalty to that dealership is over!

If done properly, you should get compensated for multiple trips to the service dept. due to the incompetance of that dealership. Explain to them that you lost wages or wasted vacation days needlessly. Even if it is just a couple free oil changes, Corporate JEEP should toss you a few freebies.

excellent idea, fishnutz.
the trouble you have gone through has been ugly, but getting the management invovled at least at that particular dealership should help prevent this kind of shoddy service to others that use that dealership.

I also would consider fowarding it to Chrysler.

happy to see you got it fixed.... FINALLY...

I think I'm gonna do all that. I'm home for a while with a few herniated disks in my back. that gives me some time to come up with a good letter. I'm not much of a wordsmith so it should take me some time to do it.
Do these people have email add. or complaint dept's.? I usually don't complain about much so I have no real idea where to begin. any help is appreciated.

man. going from sucky to suckier. graemlins/barf.gif

hope the back pain lets up soon.
a complaint is really no big deal. if done simply and professionally, i think you get more of a response as opposed to *****ing and whining.

took care of the Jeep corporate complaint. they thanked me very much, told me that they will put the complaint into the offending dealers file.I also praised the living crap out of the dealer that helped... (McDonagh) in east brunswick NJ. bunch of real nice guys. gonna be seeing them soon too. they also said they would give them a gold star for being good boys n girls. but, since they are all independently owned there isn't much Jeep themselves can do. they want me to take it up personally with the dealer. I got the service mamagers name and intend to write him. so I hope it gets some response. might opt for surgery on the back this time around thanks.

This might not be quite as helpful, now, since you've already worked through it, but, Project JK has a writeup on how to get the codes from you Jeep:
