I went mudding 2 weeks ago. Got stuck had a great time. Washed my Jeep when I got home and was unable to get the mud off the fenders and top. Any suggestions?

for the flares... it took about 3 washes to get it off. i used a car wash brush. it worked for me.
as for the top....
i have a hardtop on the JK. the CJ i had and the tracker.... i gave up. i wash it "clean" and leave it. there are some products that are sold to clean tops... Bestop sells a cleaner. some people have had good luck with Mean Green.... i can't say.

Usually a good brushing will do it for the top on mine ( TJ though). The JK fenders are basically oversized fender flares, right? I've never had trouble getting the mud off mine, but I have Missouri mud, not Florida mud.

the jk flares have a little more texture than the TJ flares. they can be pretty difficult to clean.

Kinda Off Topic because I wouldn't do this to your top or flares... but I've heard of people lightly coating their undercarriage with PAM (Cooking oil) to not let the mud stick too much making the car wash later a lot easier.

The "Pam" method also works for long highway trips to make bug removal alot easier. By using it, all it takes is a good hose to take off the bugs rather than scrubbing...

In the North Carolina red clay we have, I used to use a good stiff deck brush and undiluted Simple Green and it would clean it off really well. The trick is to get the mud when it is fresh. If you let it set for a couple of days, it is going to stain the fabric, and short of a blow torch, it isn't coming out.

Just used a new product from Mothers called " back to black" after being unable to get mud stains off. i tried using spray on polish and just plain cleaners but this stuff returned it to new. About 6 bucks a bottle and used very little.
