This really surprised me: http://tech.msn.com/news/articlecnet.aspx?cp-documentid=7744957

Had dialup access since 1993, and cable access since 1998. Life w/o the internet would suck :D

Meh, not too surprising if you think about how many lower income people we have in this country who hold either factory or service jobs that don't require any technical interaction with the outside world or with customers.

Most of the time, I consider them lucky. It is amazing to me how technically dependent society has become in the last 10-15 years. It certainly is more expensive.

yeah remember when only geeks messed with computers? and cell phones were the size of a carry on suitcase? My kids have a complete fit if there isn't internet up. What happened to playing with friends or doing a puzzle? Boy do I feel old lol

My wife gives me crap for looking stuff up on the net when I have a question about anything and for carrying my laptop around the house while looking at something. I'm fine if the power goes out, there's usually a pretty good reason for that. It bothers me when the internet doesn't work for some unexplained reason. :D

Seeing that you used to be able to(not sure if they still do it) get Juno and other places for free, and in the last 10 years the cost of computers has dropped so that just about anyone can afford one.

It surprised me, but I guess.

they still do play games.....just online games. Even older board games like Scrabble are now still playable online (ref: Scrabulous), and puzzles can be online too (jigzone.com)

I bet a big chunk of that 1/5th is senior citizens. They don't know or care about the internet. God bless em.
