I am a big fan of Anthony Bourdain No Reservations, and I just got done watching him in Waco, Texas with Ted Nugent. They BBQ'd, drank, talked politics, shot automatic weapons, and blew stuff up. But it kind of got me thinking, especially in this political climate, Anthony is pretty liberal, and Ted is obviously conservative, but they obviously enjoyed each other's company, ate some good food, and had fun. They both pointed out that, though they disagree, they both love this country, appreciate the military, and want what's best for everybody. We're all Americans (admittedly there are crazies and dangerous people, liberal and conservative that we have to watch out for)
But we're all in the same boat, sorry to get all sappy guys just was nice to see two americans sit down and have a good time.
Carry on with your evening :D

No Reservations is a fantastic show. I don't know how Bourdain still has a functioning liver. i especially like all of his snide remarks. Funny you mention Nugent, because I was watching the show where he is in Crete yesterday and he was quail hunting and made mention of Nugent.

The thing that gets to me is simple. If we as a whole could put away the pety things that separate us, we might find that we aren't all that different. The problem is, for some people, it is the pety things that define us as individuals.

I have one friend who thinks that government subsidized welfare is a good thing. Likes the redistribution of wealth thing in just about every form (so long as they don't touch his money). Likes the idea of gun control, but has one fine collection of his own that he shoots as often as he can get the time to.

No matter how hard I try to explain to him that under his socialist ideal, he is no more exepmt from government confiscation of money and firearms as I am. He really thinks that the money would only be taken from the wealthier of the nation, and the guns would only be taken and kept from those that aren't or shouldn't be allowed to have firearms.

I too like Anthony Bourdain. He has a sense of humor that appeals to me. Plus he has a realistic if not awestruck view of the regions that he travels to, even if he has been there a hundred times.
