what does it take to make snow. is it just the machine or do you have to add some chemicals in?

I mean, is it just water?

Usually on trail sides and not by huskys. ;)

No chems added, just pond water pumped up hill through 4" lines in the woods. Nozzles are about 100 yards apart to hook up the snow mahines with fire hoses. As long as the water is moving, it doesn't freeze but when it temps brop below 10, sometimes it will freeze near the hydrent so the torches come out. The skill is in tilling the snow with the (snow) cats during the night. Those guys drive up and down the mountain all night, every night. If we get some good storms, they just drain everything back down to the pond.

Killington in VT uses "treated" water with the pond water. One magazine wrote, "Killington, where the affluent go to meet the effuent".

Boss started blowing snow in the back lot at work a few days ago. This year he's letting us build a quarter pipe with a rail and a tow-in behind the back building. Bummer is it is very warm right now and only going to get warmer.
