As i am playing around with my new GPS (Garmin 260W), i tried to located points of interests in various areas to test it out. It turns out that my wife's work (Kohl's) is not found in the list. Neither is a couple of other places in that shopping center. All of those places are at least 3 years old.

I checked a couple of other areas and cannot locate a restaurant or two - again they are ones that have been there a couple of years.

I checked the website and i have the latest maps and stuff. i know i can add these places as custom points of interest, but for places that i actually need my GPS to navigate to, I dont know what I dont know and i would never find those points of interest.

any ideas on how often new things like that are picked up on the maps/POI's?

I found that with mine too. I figured it was because those companies didn't pay Garmin to be included. If you enter the address it will find it. Or you can mark a current location.

yeah, maybe that is part of it.. but when i search for 'kohl's' or 'applebees', i get other locations that are a little further away. Maybe those companies dont pay to be on the frequent update list or something.

You can go to garmin.com and see if there are any free updates.
