I know it's early, but I've already been making plans for the new year. Working on a decent summer vaction this year (gas prices permitting), and, if everything with my jobs pans out over the next few months, I'm considering getting a KLR 650.

I got my wife all talked into a motorcycle (kinda) but the Harley's are bit out of my price range for now.
How about you guys?

i just want to buy and learn to play guitar. you know, one of those learning video/guitar and amp packages.
i played percussion in a symphonic band for 6 years, and set drums/alt percussion in 2 or 3 rock bands around town....the guitar players always got more attention.....bastards...:p
hard to woo a chick with a drum set. :D

Absolutely, Doc. If I pull this off, maybe I'll be down around Sept./Oct. '09?

Well other than budgeting for the jeep (8.8, LA's, 35's, long term at least)
Wanting to make it to Moab since it isn't too far away. I'm going back to school in the spring (I'd like to take a welding class for kicks and giggles)
I'd like to find a new apartment or possibly a rental house that is bigger. Oh and find a piece of crap daily driver for cheap
Other than that, no idea :)

i can handle all that. good things always happen when i see scented candles out, i put the toilet seat down anyway from being trained by my sis and mom, my OCD wont let me have anything but matching furniture, and for the tampons.....well......i'll learn i guess.
but hey she takes the meds where mother nature stops by only 4 times a year or so! its all good!

Ahh! Live and learn young Captain. Never been sent on a tampon run... but at my age nothing gets me embaressed. After you survive 1 ex-wife, two kids, two step kids, and a few unmentionable other things, you can deal with almost anything and come out smiling, :D

Oh yes! As far as goals; #1. Stay breathin' and on the green side of the sod. I guess after that nothing is really important... well more family time would be great.

I have not set any goals for the new year. I do want to do a bike tour this year so that will take some training. But I do that just about every year anyway. This year, a tour I want to do easily exceeds 400 miles over 6 days and finishes with a 100 miler and a climb over Independence Pass.
hard to woo a chick with a drum set. :D
And if they can change a tire themselves, they are a keeper in my book..... Oh wait... you mean to use the drum set to woo a chick?
If you are young enough, try Drum Corps.

yeah....i guess i kinda am. :D
i like to rub her feet after a long day, massage her back (also leads to good things), take care of her when she's sick, and come in early to cook dinner and light a few candles every once in a while. i dont do it just to look good, i really like to take care of her.
i guess i got another goal for the year. be the best fiance/future husband i can be. she deserves it.

My wife tried that crap on our bed. She quit real quick when I threw all but mine on the floor on her side of the bed. Was a bit of a wake up for her when she went to the bathroom that night.

Start working out and get off of my ass
Maybe next year I’ll quit putting off all the chores
Maybe next year I’ll visit my grandparents more
Maybe next year I’ll go back to church and repent
Maybe next year I’ll pick up my Bible again

my wife teases me all the time about "my jeep buddies" that I'm always talking to
goals for next year are:

save money to throw the wife a huge graduation party...and possibly surprise her with a new car
buy a beater for me so I can start the tear down and build up of my jeep
pay off a ton of debt

Get all of the winter mods done on the Jeep by May 10th, 09 (one year graduation from college). Get in some better shape (even tho everyone says I'm already in shape but I'm my own worst critic). Have a great birthday instead of the ones in the past few years that brought the suck. Help out the family some more, pay off my student loans as well as my CC! I would be happy with all of that done then again, I'm a simple man.
Maybe next year I'll quit procrastinating.

Advise, get in shape now and stay in shape. It is difficult to do as you get older. When I am in my 70's (which is still a few more decades away), I still want to do no less than 75% of what I can do now.
Adding to mine, get my postings right the first time and to cut down on post editing my postings.

There's a guy at my church that is in his 70's still wakeboards, snowboards, has gone hang-gliding and went back to school 10 years ago to become a chiropractor. Him and I were talking and he said it has alot to do with a healthy lifestyle but also your mind. He says he tries to stay young at heart and not act or feel old. Compare that with my dad's dad who is in his mid 60's has smoked since 15 and has considered himself "old" since he was 50, retired at 52. If you start thinking you're old, you will be. He shuffles around hacking and coughing and is going crazy sitting in his garage all day.
